Our Garden is In Full Bloom!
T.U.L.I.P.S. is partnering with community advocate Aspen Smith, founder of Laced Up, a nonprofit that provides local youth with a new pair of shoes as a motivator to aspire toward their dreams and goals. Ms. Smith's and Laced Up's mantra is "Lacing up the community"! We at T.U.L.I.P.S. are joining this rally call and will be "Lacing up the community" one female youth and one mentored relationship at a time.
Specifically, T.U.L.I.P.S. will proudly work with Ms. Aspen Smith and the Laced Up organization to select two girls each month to receive the "Stay Laced Up On Your Journey to Greatness" Award. This award will go to the two girls who most demonstrate excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service as evidenced by the goals accomplished from the youth action plan that they develop with their mentor at the onset of the mentored relationship. As Ms. Smith shares, "Growing up, I always felt restricted by my insecurities. I often let fear hold me back from living up to my full potential. It took so long for me to realize that confidence is such a vital factor in performance. Laced up was created to help build confidence in today's youth. Not only does having a new pair of shoes put an extra "pep in your step," but there is also symbolism in lacing up your shoes for the day. It's usually your final step in preparing to face the world." We are honored and grateful for Ms. Smith's planned contribution to our girls through Laced Up. Twice a month Laced Up will be honoring a young lady with a new pair of shoes that will help her walk with confidence on her journey to greatness. We are proud of this partnership and invite you to watch this space to find out who our "Stay Laced Up On Your Journey to Greatness" Awards will go to in April! And by all means, visit our donations page and help us walk the talk of this partnership as we "stay laced up" and walk in our purpose and confidence along-side our mentors and their girls!
